This is page 2 of the history of MALCOLM COLQUHOUN and Christian McCORQUODALE of Appin/Lismore Parish, Argyleshire, Scotland and Cumberland Co., NC. She appears to be the child of Malcolm McCorquodale and Ann McColl of Achindarrich baptized 9/07/1768 at Appin/Lismore Parish, Argyleshire, Scotland. Malcolm's birth as calculated from census records of 1790-1810 occurred 1764 or before. Prior genealogies claiming this family arrived in the Carolinas in 1792 from the Isle of Skye appear to be error.

5. Duncan COLQUHOUN, son of Malcolm Colquhoun born 9/01/1795 (christened 10/25/1795 at Bluff Presbyterian Church), married Rachael GRAHAM 1819. She was born about 1800, the daughter of Daniel and Nancy Colquhoun Graham [see line of Anne "Nancy" Colquhoun and Daniel GRAHAM], and sister of Christian Graham, who married Duncan's nephew Daniel. Rachael died before 1853; Duncan died 8/24/1859. The couple had 11 children. Short histories of the families of this line follow.
   
      Daniel COLQUHOUN born 1820, never married. He died about 1869.
   
      Malcolm COLQUHOUN, born 2/19/1822, married Mary Elmira (Emily) HICKS 12/29/1850. She was the sister of Golden Hicks, who married Mary Colquhoun, daughter of Daniel and Christian Graham Colquhoun, born 11/06/1832. The couple had 7 children: Emily Jane Colquhoun born 10/26/1851; John Duncan Colquhoun born 9/20/1853; Martha Alice Colquhoun born 12/31/1854; Mary Susan Colquhoun born 1/22/1857; William Monroe Colquhoun born 12/06/1858; Louella Vastine Colquhoun born 1/31/1860 and James Graham Colquhoun born 2/07/1869. Malcolm died 1850; Mary Hicks Colquhoun died 1901. Both are buried in Alabama Church Cemetery, Sibley, LA.

      John Archibald COLQUHOUN, born 3/18/1827, married Arsenia McLEOD 1/1/1857. Arsenia was the daughter of Daniel and Matilda Robinson McLeod and granddaughter of Neill and Nancy Colquhoun McLeod. The couple had 2 children: Annie Blanche Colquhoun born 11/05/1857 and John Archibald Colquhoun, Jr. born 1/26/1860.
   
      Christian COLQUHOUN born 8/29/1829, married her cousin, John McLEOD 12/25/1850. He was the son of Neill and Nancy Colquhoun McLeod, born 9/22/1829. They had 5 children before John died in the Civil War, 1864: Frances Isabella McLeod born 7/5/1852, William Allen McLeod born 9/16/1854, Lionel Erastus McLeod born 6/26/1857, Archibald Lonza McLeod born 12/27/1859, and Mary Alice McLeod born 6/11/1862.
   
      William Wallace COLQUHOUN born 11/6/1834, married Celia CHAPMAN 1/17/1861; she was born 12/10/1841. The couple had one child before William Wallace Colquhoun died 7/13/1865: Mary William Colquhoun, born 7/13/1862.
   
      Jane COLQUHOUN, born 8/25/1837, never married. She died 11/02/1921. This Jane Colquhoun, together with Mary Emiline Calhoun, daughter of Dougal son of Archibald Colquhoun (one of the original six Colquhoun heads-of-family in the 1790 census out of Cumberland Co., NC) filed a petition and gave testimony in the "Succession of Mary Isabel Thomason nee Calhoun, No. 756 Probate Docket, Third Judicial District Court, Lincoln Parish, Louisiana, Ruston, Louisiana" dated June 2nd, 1918. Among other things, that probate indicates a familial relationship between the Malcolm Colquhoun and Archibald Colquhoun of the 1790 census.
   
      James Duncan COLQUHOUN, born about 1841, married Evie PATTON before 1874. The couple had one child: Samuel D. Calhoun, born 5/24/1874.
   
      David F. COLQUHOUN, born 1844, never married. He died in Mobile, AL 1862.

7. Mary COLQUHOUN, child of Malcolm Colquhoun, born about 1805, married James J. CRAVEY 11/06/1823. Leander Cotton Calhoun states the couple had several children, but he did not know the names. It is known this couple had a child named Malcolm CRAVEY. Mary Colquhoun died 9/04/1859.
   
   
8. Christian Ann COLQUHOUN, child of Malcolm Colquhoun born 1810, married Robert Nathaniel BUMPERS 11/6/1831. Leander Cotton Calhoun called this husband Bumpass, as he also called Jennet Bumpass, the wife of Malcolm Colquhoun. Jesse Thompson Calhoun called both spouses Bumpers. Bumpass may have been the original spelling of the name; however, by 1850 the census indicates the spelling had changed to Bumpers, and this line is traced unbroken to many living heirs of the line. Robert Bumpers died 9/-/1869; Christian Colquhoun Bumpers died in 1879. This couple had 5 children. Details of the children and their families follow.
   
      Joel Jasper BUMPERS born 12/29/1832, married Lydia PRITCHETT 5/11/1856. She was the cousin of Sophronia and Julia Ann Pritchett, born 1/21/1838. Joel died 8/03/1909; Lydia died 3/29/1921.
